Hebrew Through Basketball

Using Basketball To Bridge Communities

Recognising the language barrier faced by many Arab children in the region, Hapoel HaEmek developed a pioneering programme that teaches Hebrew through sport. By embedding vocabulary, instruction, and communication into training sessions and gameplay, the initiative delivers 400+ Hebrew words per year — not in a classroom, but on the court, through laughter, competition, and shared purpose.

The programme creates real, lasting integration — building confidence, vocabulary, and friendships simultaneously, in an environment where every player is equal.

Education, Innovation & Employment

In collaboration with Gevasol, the Idan Technology Centre provides youth across Northern Israel with access to state-of-the-art engineering laboratories, advanced manufacturing equipment, robotics platforms, and professional mentorship — resources typically reserved for elite academic institutions.

With more than 50,000 young people engaging with the centre each year, Idan Technology is growing the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs, and building a direct route into Israel's fastest-growing industries.

Inclusion & Integration

Hapoel HaEmek brings together people from different backgrounds, cultures and communities through a shared love of sport.

Through basketball, cooperation replaces division and respect replaces misunderstanding. The club continues to develop programmes that promote inclusion, education and equal opportunity throughout the region.
