We are delighted to announce the signing of Christian Mekowulu for Hapoel HaEmek – Gilboa Galil Afula!

Mekowulu (31, centre, Nigeria, 2.06m), who spent three college seasons in the colours of Tennessee and one season at Texas, joins us after a season with Udine in Italy, where he averaged 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Christian plays for the Nigeria national team, for whom he scored 13 points and took 7 rebounds against Rwanda yesterday. Before that he played for Akita Northern Happinets in Japan, Wolves of the Lithuanian league, Zaragoza of the Spanish league, and Treviso and Sassari in Italy.

Head coach Sharon Avrahami: "We are very pleased with Christian's arrival. Christian is an experienced, tough player with a great character, and he has played at the highest levels. Everyone at the club worked hard to make this happen and I am sure that his time with us will be a winning one."
